Algeria and Kenya reaffirm support to UN efforts in Western Sahara

0800c65f0ade15153ca0ac25cbc8dd5a_XLAlgiers, February 27, 2015 (SPS)-Algeria and Kenya reaffirmed their support to the efforts of the UN to reach a political solution, which provides for the self-determination of the People of Western Sahara, stressed a joint communiqué released last Thursday 27 February after President Kenyatta’s state visit to Algeria at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, H.E. Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

“On Western Sahara, the two Heads of State reaffirmed their support for the efforts of the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and his personal Envoy Christopher Ross, aiming at finding a mutually acceptable political solution, providing for the self-determination of the People of Western Sahara, in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly,” the same source said.

“In this regard, they reiterated their solidarity with the people of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in their efforts aimed at fulfilling their national potential,” the communiqué stated.
